Tax

Post by jjmartin349571 » Sun Jun 30, 2013 11:27 pm

Hi guys,

I forgot to tax my Accord and it runs out this evening :(

Long story short due to house move I no longer have my V5C available. If I apply online tonight can I still drive the car whilst I'm waiting for the disc to arrive?

Cheers,
Josh

As long as you do it before midnight no problem with driving it
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Rollocks, just realised that my address won't be right as it takes the DVLA an age to change these things :? Will have to give them a call tomorrow.

It's an offence not to display a valid tax disc. So if it is in the post, you can still get done.

Actually, just looking further into this, they've changed the rules to offer an exemption for the first 5 days of the start of the disc.

Only if you tax it BEFORE the expiry of the current disc and are waiting for it to arrive.

Doesn't apply if you forget and do it online in a panic.

For the last 4 or 5 years I've been doing it online the day before, never had problems, but then I am a bit of a rebel. :hurr: Haven't 'displayed' a tax disc for about a year now, never been pulled and I pass police all the time, don't think they care too much  I do have my tax disc in the car though. My old holder came unstuck and I've not bought a new one yet.

You can do it the day before, as that's still before your current disc expires ;)
