Weird dash light after alternator change

Post by ddoubledanny » Thu Jul 25, 2013 9:20 pm

I decided today to change my alternator for one I had lying around as my alternator at the moment was only giving me 13 volts on idle and just over 11 on start up and was fluctuating quite bad. All went well fitting even managed to refit my poly insert engine mount :D But on the way home 2 dash lights came on :? Volt gauge was showing 14 volt on idle which is much better than before :)

Any one know what these lights mean

Camera quality is poor but the light on the right is a battery

Check the big fat plug that goes into the alternator - I had similar symptoms a little while back and found that plug had a habit of working its way loose, as the little 'clip' had broken, pretty common I believe.
I wondered if it might be compounded by my poly engine mounts....which of course you have too  :?:
