Boot wetness :(

Only noticed this yesterday during a meet at Shinearama, I put a bottle of Snow Foam in my boot before leaving then changed my mind as i didn't want it sliding around the boot. I grab the bottle back out and it was wet, my first thought was the top is loose but on closer inspection the carpet in the boot was wet.

Looking at the underside of the boot lid it was covered in condensation droplets. So its not a leak but i'm guessing because its metal, once it starts to change temperature it all drops onto my carpet.

So my question is how can i stop condensation on the boot lid? Anyone had this issue in the past?

I think you would need a seriously abnormal level of humidity to get any noticeable condensation problem inside. First thing to do is check there isn't a pool of water in the spare tire well as that is where it sits if you have a leak in the boot.

If you have a pool of water you want to clean it up as soon as possible otherwise it gets worse and travels into the passenger seating area under heavy braking. If it gets even worse it will migrate into the carpets, even to the front footwells.

I had this problem in mine a few years ago as there had been a knock by the back right light unit and there were still small gaps in the metal, including one at the top by the boot weather trim. I cleaned and dried it all up before sealing it with 'Liquid Metal' silicon sealant and have never had any problems since. Did have to dry out my rear seats sponge for several days and treat with anti-bacterial sprays as well.

You can also carry a bag of rice around in the back or silicon/desiccant sachets to absorb any moisture in the car.

Ill try and take a picture of it, but literally my boot lid was covered in tiny droplets.

Funny thing is reading your reply it sounds exactly like mine. I bought it with a cracked rear bumper and light on the drivers side same as yours lol. I have since changed the light and bumper.

My carpet isn't soaking wet but its wet (if you get what i mean) i shall take a look at the spare etc.

Interesting article, I noticed the sunroof drain tubes when I had all my trim out at the weekend. I have previously read about the tubes being blocked by dirt causing the water to flow into the car at some point, was that what happened to yours A1ex?

Noticed my boot leak when I was driving back from Wales with some guys in the car. Bloke in the back complained about the seat being wet. We thought he was drunk and pissed himself so were not best pleased!

the wet seats happened in mine too.

I never got round to sorting it as some bimbo drove into the back of the lude on a round about and it got written off. 99% sure this was the issue as also had water in the drivers footwell which is a sign of the front drain, apparently it was a Honda service item to clear them out IIRC.

I think it's an inherent Honda problem, I've got 4 and they all gather water in the boot

Saw several early naughties and older Honda's come in with water in their boots too when I was back at a dealership. It used to baffle the technicians if that's any consolation

I'll get round to sorting mine (4 times over
