HELP!!!

Post by minimoose » Sat Oct 05, 2013 2:19 pm

My car has now decided that it either will not select reverse or when put it into reverse it won't come back out!
It goes through other gears fine while driving and gear changes are smooth
Any ideas? Clutch? Gearbox?
Cheers

your selection fork will be bent.

You know sometimes when you put it into reverse and it kind of catches? How do you deal with that? If you push it in regardless and wonder why its a bit stiff sometimes then you have bent the selection fork. If you take it back out of reverse, let the clutch out and do it again so it slots right in then the last owner did it the first way and has bent the selection fork. probably.

This is why people get 5th gear syncro as well. the two gears are on the same gate and reverse will sometimes not notch in. all you need do is get it fixed and then be aware that if it doesnt go in right away it just needs to be gentled t=rather than forced.
