3kw Engine Pre Heater Just In!

Post by Mudgey » Tue Oct 08, 2013 9:50 pm

Hey guys,

Just had a batch arrive of a new design of engine pre heater I have been requesting for a long while! These units feature a 3kw ceramic heating element, run off 240v and has a built in circulation pump. This version differs from previous designs I stock in that the thermostat does not cut the circulation pump and so the warming up time is greatly increased! Many cheaper models on the market do not have this feature and take far longer to heat up a engine....

I shall be installing one soon enough and recording how much of a difference it actually makes, I have a digital temp reader so can get some hard cold figures!

Anyway, here are the photo's:

When you say run off 240V, does that mean you'll be plugging the car into the mains before you drive off, or are you going to fit an invertor to the car and run it off the battery?

A UK plug would be good too.

The plug is standard size - it's the new hybrid Penny Racer.

what the hell

Yea it currently comes with a Euro Plug of about half a metre, I will be sourcing some waterproof junction boxes, some correct sized cable, plastic bulkhead connectors etc.

For those that do not know the pre heater is designed top be plugged into your house or place of work electricity supply to warm the engine to 70c before starting, these allow for reduced engine wear and you will have hot air blowing out the defrost vents as soon as you start the vehicle. Engine pre heaters almost come as standard on vehicles in far northern countries!

Ta.
Yeah the principle of why you pre-heat the engine I understood, just wasn't sure where the juice came from.
Anyway, that's all 8-)
