Nope, really was as simple as that!

Pop the OEM light unit out, chop off connector which leaves the 2 wires

White/Blue is the positive
Green/Black is the negative

Once all connected up, pop the OEM unit back in place to hide it all.

Only downside I can see with using under the bonnet, is the heat will more than likely melt the glue holding it on, so you'd need to find a more permanent way of fixing the strips.

Interior Light Uprades

Following on from the boot LED strips, I have now fitted some more LEDs!!

2 x 10cm strips (from same seller used for the boot strips) in the central dome light:
