According to there website they only did shock absorbers for the prelude? cant find any coilovers for the prelude on there so now im totally lost as I always thought coilovers were like these.

coilover is a generic term for any suspension strut that has the strut inside the coil as one unit as has already been said, when we use the term coilover though we normally mean items like the above

Everything I believed in is now shattered. I'm starting to wonder if my prelude was really a prelude now . Many thanks to all the guys above for tech and info. My misinformation wasn't intentional .

I think merc and me are of a certain age where coilovers were generally refered to as coilovers or adjustable platform coilovers . nowadays they basically only come as adjustable hence why the younger generation may dismiss non adjustables as pants for not being adjustable, umm  yeah something like that anyway.
P.s. im only 47

I agree that most use the term coilovers nowadays to describe the adjustable platform.
I never said the none adjustable were pants by the way. :) the none adjustable is just not what I am after! That's all. :D

Wasn't pointing the finger directly at you, consider this, they are a cracking set, far better than a lot of the adjustable platform ones out there and what most people do is buy a set of adjustables slap them on the car and wait for the adjusters to seize up before selling them on to somebody else who just bolts them on the car as they are anyway, each to their own but once set up adjustables are very rarely tampered with anyway. Bilstein went to a lot of trouble to get these to work properly, so much trouble in fact that when I bought a car to break and these were on it I kept them for myself. Lovely rideheight and cracking handling and fortunately bilstein has done all the hard work of setting them up for me.
Just something to think about thats all.
