Just seen the profile of Ricky Lambert, after the Brazil game. Now.. I'm no big footy fan, but a proud Sotonian, but the profile did not once mention his career with the saints!! Only the fact he now plays for Liverpool!! Rant, rant.

Who knows. After the bribes that took place to make it happen there might be all sorts of things agreed to!

I'm keen on many sports. Probably watch more cricket than football nowadays, but still a big Forest Fan! :D
Also like to get to a number of rugby, ice hockey and boxing events throughout the year too.

I shall not be watching it. I will be interested to see if the Brazilians can pull it of without too many riots and feck ups.

One thing that does concern me greatly is one of the new stadiums has not been weight tested. The thought of the top tier collapsing during a match does not bear thinking about .

The short segment on BBC2's highlights show did bring in his play with Saints.

As long as the referees keep to 'local rules' they might just get by. The home team getting knocked out early would make things interesting.

That's disturbing. Which stadium?

I can't wait. With a team comprising such footballing talent (Charlton, Hurst, Peters, Moore, Stiles and Banks amongst others) under the genius direction of Alf Ramsey, we'll show those Johnny Upstarts that the Jules Rimet Trophy will soon be ours and on its way home to jolly old England where it rightly belongs.

Are you lot missing your nightly EastEnders or Emmerdale or something? At least Hollyoaks isn't effected. You have to be glad about that?

if you played football you could probably appreciate it more & skill involved

the average person has a chance to get good at football, & earn those mega bucks, and have plastic girlfriend.

world cup is only every 4 years, and brings people together

I used to like playing, and watching, football as a kid, but I must say I grow increasingly tired of the trying-to-polish-a-turd attitude towards it.
'The Beautiful Game' . Really? All I see is ugly. Acting, cheating, corruption. Sure, it exists in all sports, but football matches are the only event that I have been to where you see all ages....and hear the most foul mouthed chants and slurs. What a lovely family environment for your kids  :( Never had that at rock/metal gigs, F1, rugby, you name it. But in football, it's accepted.
My young cousins got beat up rather badly at a football match the other month, purely because they got a bit lost and walked through the 'wrong' end. W@nker football 'supporters'.
Frankly, I'm suspicious of anyone that reads the papers from the back forwards....or just anyone that reads the papers TBH

But wait! All of this said, every time the World Cup comes round I cave in and give them a chance. I support England in all sports, I am patriotic and I like to see us do well, but it's so rare that you actually see any true passion from the players, and you do have to question if the incentive is there, when you're a millionaire whatever the outcome...

I have never seen things clearer than during the Olympics. The atmosphere was incredible, friendly, and the crowd got behind EVERONE, whilst still wanting their own nations to win. And what do those athletes get paid? Water and gruel compared to your average Tony and Guy frequenter footballer.
