that sounds like either an earthing issue or a vac leak for the dieing and maybe a coolant bleed for the hunting

Ok so the poor idle and the hunting turned out to be linked.

Altho the Idle control valve had the same connections the control pin on the prelude ECU was at pin A12 and pin A14 on the civic ECU. Swapped them over and everything worked straight away plus the CEL went.

Took it for a quick blast and the CEL came back on, think it's because the IAB isn't hooked up yet. But things are going in the right direction at least :-)
