Maybe I will put the button on the dash somewhere.
Move it to the glove box or inside the centre arm rest. That's my plan. I only use the ciggy lighter to use my Sat-nav and that's only out once a while so don't really need it.

Where did you get yours from? How much?

This looks like a good place for the 5G.

^^In most 5G's there isnt enough room there. In my 5G I really need space for the swtiches that control front fogs, rear fog, sun roof, and cruise control. 4 swtiches with only 3 holes :?

I don't have a cruise control or a sun-roof switch so I have plenty of space. But the best one I've seen is in the ciggy lighter. Looks OEM.

Would it be straight forward enough to remove the steering lock?

How about where the hazard switch is?
And then get a rectangular hazard switch to relocate that into one of the rectangular blanks elsewhere in the centre console? (What sort of hazard switch does the 5g have? Still round, or is that rectangular and the right size maybe?)

do I interpret this as plug one of the wires from the starter button to the + for the cigarette lighter, and the other wire from the button to a relay (what relay, and bought from where?) and then wire that into the same + to the cigarette lighter, the ignition white cable and the ignition black&white cable.......?

thank you!

If you fit a start button, it's annoying to have to put the key in and turn it to the ignition position. You might as well start the car with the key then!

My TVR had a system where you pressed the key fob button to unlock the car, then pressing the same button within 30 secs or so enabled the start button (i.e. switched off the immobiliser) which both switched on the ignition and started the engine.

There was also a stop button.

I think I'm going to source the same alarm that the TVR used, which is a Meta, and fit that so it works the same way. It does mean disabling the steering lock, but that's hardly necessary when you have an immobiliser.

^^ exact reason I never fitted another one. I had one in a *cough*Nova*cough*, but I always thought it sucked that I had to use the key to turn the ignition on then press ther button to fire it up.
