Not so.Doggo wrote:Sailor, the UK Government didn't resist the devo max option being on the ballot paper. Westminster/Cameron very much wanted it, but lost/relinquished it in negotiations with Salmond who really wanted to get rid of it for reasons that apparently are only now a lot more obvious to a lot of people.
From The Scotsman, 2 years ago:
"In a blunt message to Scottish politicians and voters, sources close to Prime Minister David Cameron say an increase in powers – such as devo-max – is “inconsistent” with staying in the UK"
Other papers at the time were baffled by the position.
More recently (Monday), the New Statesmen had:
"After calling the SNP leader's bluff in January 2012, the PM had denied him the second question he wanted on devo max."
and
"The UK government originally insisted that it would only give Scotland the right to hold a binding referendum (a power constitutionally reserved to Westminster) if it was staged by September 2013. But this demand was dropped in return for Salmond agreeing to a one question vote."

Hey I think England will suffer the same crash mate. There is just as much distopian culture in England to go round. The issue I feel is that with a much smaller population (5.3m?) Scotland has less of a bufferzone of middleclass to float the growing underclass. Areas will become no go areas and sink estates will sink off the map.
As a bullet point to my thrusting verbatory diatribe.... RBS have just announced they will be moving their head office and trading to london if Scotland goes it alone.
Thats a pretty big rodent jumping ship... Scottish widows next? Seriously. You start hemorrohaging employers that big and Scotland might as well bankrupt now.
I think you could lighten up a bit and tell us what you will be voting and why? It's not like its going to matter in a hundred years.

Its not bile by the way its pointed argumentative rabble rousing. Unfortunatly you decided to withdraw into a shell rather come back with some vim and vigour and shout your national pride, with some pride. A little body lemonade and vinegar was, I thought, a stock in trade for Scotland and its people? Thats kinda what I'm talking about.BMCC wrote:This sort of bile makes me want to give up on LG.

I really don't see any points being made well, just shouting at the scots telling us were all poor and not to come back etc. My votes my concern. RBS are according to the BBC:lewd lude lover wrote:Hey I think England will suffer the same crash mate. There is just as much distopian culture in England to go round. "RBS confirms it will relocate its registered headquarters to London if Scotland votes for independence next week, but says it has no intention to move jobs or operations."
So no jobs going anywhere.

We have had that on here and it ended in tantrums etc with mods getting involved.
If I was to give your rant to a fellow voter I think you have just made a case for Scottish independence. This is what you think of us, this is what we would be giving up?

I hope you all stay but its going to a rough ride for us all if you go.
RBS would naturally relocate its staff over time by osmosis if nothing else. Staff would be lost, not all at once but over a period less obvious. imho.
I honestly dont think there is any kind of real plan for independence after getting it. I hope I am wrong.

To be fair that was some time ago and the topic was about lift incest and then someone mentioned independence and the whole thing got a bit crazy, I don't think the same result is going to come from a SERIOUS discussion between adults about the benefits/drawbacks of independence.

I don't see anything in this thread that is asking for serious debate just rants about if your going your not coming back, your too poor and uneducated etc. The usual. Hence there will be no debate.Donald wrote:BMCC wrote: We have had that on here and it ended in tantrums etc with mods getting involved.

If this is what LG is coming to then my enthusiasm is going to wane very quickly no matter what the outcome on the 18th.
