Non Lude advice needed

Post by paul bristol uk » Fri Apr 03, 2015 8:36 pm

Yes the frog sh1t Soarer again
In the last 3 years I have had my rear spoiler repainted three times and again it is bubbling up all over. More like Toad sh1t green. This spoiler is made of some sort of glass fibre or resin> Some ludes used to do this but not on this scale!!!!!

I have had enough of this so here are some questions if you can help me

1 is it possible to cover it with carbon effect wrap bearing in mind the curves(front and back are flush with the boot lid )

2 the only bit I am worried about is the ends of the spoiler The light in it is no trouble. I can't post a picture of mine as I have no camera ATM and my phone is crap but here is a link to the spoiler.

3 if I can wrap it(its just the curves on the end that worry me) can I spray it the same colour as the car?

I could throw it away but I would lose my led lights and the holes in the boot lid would need filling and the whole boot would need respraying as the bit under the spoiler are new paint

Thanks for any advice you may give me

I don't know all I know is 2 body shops have stripped this bloody thing right back to the bare material and still it does it!

Lexus forums are not like LG if it was a Lude I would have the right colour spoilers coming out of my ears by now!

Do you want to buy a Prelude spoiler not in the colour you need? I have three you can choose from.

Thankyou Donad I have thought about that but it would not fit the soarer is too wide and the holes are in the wrong place plus there is a gap under the lude one so the whole boot would need repainting. My wife who uses the 4th Gen was not happy when she saw me with the tape measure going between car and the remark was "You are not sodding having it!"

you are not alone my soarer boot spoiler has paint lifting on the edges luckily mine is on under side so not so noticable , i was told of a product called barcoat which goes on to seal the previous layers not that i am worried as i am in process of modding a supra spoiler to fit onto mine :D :D
success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm :D :D

Sounds more like the paint has not been dried properly before the lacquer trapping in moisture then it bubbling up months later.

My opinion - half wrapped, half painted will look bad. I say post the spoiler to Ratty and get him to paint it ;)
