P13 in a 5th gen - Does it work?
Hey guys,
I'm trying to help a forum member from France who wants to potentially buy one of my chips, see posts here:
http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/prelude ... postingbox
I should probably know the answer as someone tried this a while back – Mills?
The main question is:
Will a 4th gen ECU – JDM or UKDM (shouldn’t make a difference) work on a 5th gen H22A5? Assuming he has a OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness.
He has a 5th gen which was originally a 2.0i and has swapped the engine for a 5th gen H22A5. He also has a spare UKDM (Or France Domestic Market in this case) G00 ECU which can be chipped with one of my maps, but I’m not sure if this would work.
Anyone remember what has been tried previously? I don’t want to sell him a chip if it doesn’t work.
Thanks,
Rob

not good at the momentplugged in the P13, started up the Lude and the check engine light came on, and its also idling a bit lower. when giving it a gentle press on the pedal to bring the revs up a bit, it seems to be a bit hesitant and spluttery. so now i need to pull the codes, as it could be a problem thats easily rectified

anyway, took it for a steady drive up the road, and it drives fine. but on the way back down, i thought i would plant it a little, to see how it goes and more importantly to see if the VTEC crossover had changed at allunfortunatley there is no VTEC
and it feels underpowered. could the car have gone into safe mode

thats it for now until i manage to pull the codes.

I figured the same, which is why we tried it with Mills way back when. As to why it doesn’t = ???
It could be something to do with the P13 code, I know the clever developers that built the Crome Software didn’t fully crack the P13 codebase as it was different from the usual P28, P30, P72, P06, etc from Civic, CRXs, Tegs, etc. This explains why these ECUs work with a Crome chip and conversion harness. But we were essentially trying a standard P13 ECU, with a standard code map (albeit tweaked by Spoon). There must be something in the detail but its way beyond my knowledge and understanding.
