Tim's Restored JDM BB1 -> UK Build Spec

Post by h10ndr » Sat Apr 21, 2012 11:13 am

As I'm probably going to frequent LG more than PUK now, I thought I would put a link to one of my resto pic galleries as my profile.

This is my replacement JDM BB1 Auto which was stripped to bare chassis - and converted to manual (not difficult - remove a cover for the clutch pedal) and rebuilt back up to my original UK 95 BB1 spec. So although its a early 92 car, it has twin air bags, the full digital dash, and the post facelift centre console. The only JDM bits I crossed over were the 1 piece black housing headlights. Its had the conversion on the centre tunnel carried out so the handbrake can be fitted in the new position and the later spec console re-fitted. This was done by cutting the 2nd skin of the tunnel out of my old UK chassis starting from where it differs from the JDM. The 2nd skin tunnel section was spot weld drilled out and swapped over and re-spot welded back in.

The car has no filler in the body anywhere- all the dents where professionally removed with paintless dent repairs, and all the interior chassis panels were injected with Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 throughout. Then Dynax UB used for the underside.

Here is a link to just one of the galleries :-

Oh, and it already had a H22A7-U2TQ conversion done by Richy at PAW. :D

..and for those who can't...

Saw this at JAE last year on the DSUK stand.

I must say, those pictures don't do it justice.

It's a fine looking car, I see it quite regularly on the roads round here. You've clearly put a lot of effort to get it the way it is. +rep

Thanks all.

Hope to see you all at JAE this year. Would be nice to get a Prelude stand this time though

Anyone given more thought to it - get 10 deposits and we're up and running....
