thanks for the replys and I think I ll go with oem/gates parts.I am skint but I know for the extra bit of money it is worth it.

I ll get that belt ordered and I ll phone around for the water pump.there is a guy on gumtree selling accord type r auto tensioner and water pump genuine Honda parts for £130.. might be worth getting those if they would fit my prelude

The link i gave you in your lude profile has all the part numbers and approximate costs.
You need 14400-P13-004 timing belt (Gates T226)< £30 on ebay
Balance shaft belt Gates 5235XS < £20 on ebay
Balance shaft retainer kit - Honda only approx £5
Water pump id go OEM or Blueprint - i went with aftermarket and noticed that the impellers were slightly smaller than oem. However i fitted it and no issue. You can get aftermarket ones for about £40.
Auto Tensioner - Honda Only (approx £100) or Manual tensioner conversion kit from Honda Parts Ireland @ £100

I have OEM water pump and auto tensioner that i took off my BB4 when i did the belts. Both parts were working and in good condition.Ive kept these as spares but you could buy them from me but there is no warranty implied or given on these parts. You can however service the auto tensioner its in the manual. Just another option and at least its genuine Honda Parts. ;)

Yeah I had a look at these, just trying to find the best price but I ll need to bite the bullet and go with good parts.Would you recommend the manuel tensioner? I was going to get another auto one but seems a lot of people change to manuel.

Its a difficult choice but generally accepted that the manual tensioner is more reliable if you are using high rpm or if your planning on going on track. Ive had an auto tensioner failure on the BB4 and changed that to manual some years later on.
Im now looking at doing the belts on the BB1 but want to keep it as it left the factory and that means with the autotensioner. I know Honda did a small redesign on the tensioner around 1994 which maybe addressed some of the failings on the original design. The T belt can be quite tight after the manual conversion and can take a few months to settle down. There is a third way which is some of the aftermarket locking tensioners - they look and fit like the autotensioner but lock into place like a manual tensioner - i dont know much about them. The only other downside of the manual tensioner is that your meant to inspect and adjust the belts at 30,000miles as opposed to 60,000miles with the autotensioner in place.
Hope this helps :)
