VTEC lights...

Post by JohnnyB » Thu Jun 09, 2016 1:31 am

So I've added a VTEC light into my dash and will shortly be finishing off my modified high level 'prelude' light to add a VTEC light to it. I'll be using LED's to light both. This must have been done before as I'm sure I stole the idea from another profile many years ago  My question is fairly simple - can the VTEC solenoid output of the ECU cope with the extra current draw from these LED's or do I need to wire in a relay to operate them? If I wire in a relay, do I operate ONLY the relay with the ECU output and let the relay power the VTEC solenoid and LED's or can the ECU power a relay and the VTEC solenoid so only the lights are fed from the relay?

Who has done what and why?

Please thanks ta :D 8-)

 I think this one has a write up in either the wiki, or the 'how to' section of electrical or engine...
