Hello everyone!

Started the day badly with a nail in my tire, so after getting the hideous spare out and jacking it up on what is an incredibly wet miserable day the bloody jacking point has caved in on itself! I lowered back down as quickly as I could but this seems bad.. There is rust on the rear arches which I was having sorted in May but now I am worried the chassis could just be rotted away :(

Anyone else have any past experience with this problem?? How fixable is this and for how many dollars? I had a quite for both rear arches to be fixed for £250, but now tht is going to be a bit worse I guess.

Prelude you make me sad sometimes... Least the rain has stopped now, guess I can walk to the shops :s

When you say collapsed, do you just mean it's folded over itself, or to the point where the jack almost went through?

It can also depend on the jack you use. I've seen race jacks bend jacking points quite often due to their strength.


Hopefully it won't be too bad to sort out for you.

Hmm well it hasn't made a hole, just bent it right back as I imagine it is weakened... Will try and investigate further.
Is theer anywhere else to safely jack from to get a rear driverside wheel replaced?

I took a photo and video (will post when home later) and it seems like it it mainly the corner of teh inside of teh arch which has been affected by rust.. I hope.

Not only that but now I will have to pump my wheel up by hand before every journey to work this week as I cant get the wheel off......

they are salvagable if your stubbern like me :lol: maybe you too have a coffee table like i had, cut it up and make some new sills :D i am using a spray gun to spray rust converter into the sills, then anti rust paint inside followed by finally fitting new sills onto the outside.

rust makes a hole at the back of the sill inside the rear arch, then water runns down inside, once inside it attacks the square holes that the side skirts mout too. if your sills are ok it would pay to treat this area at the back before it starts, that goes for everyone. i think the side skirts actually speeds up the rusting as there are always wet inside
