Fuel leak and thoughts on selling BB4

Post by vanzep » Thu Jan 24, 2019 7:27 pm

thanks wurly its not too bad to look at from 20 paces but it would need some serious amount of time in the body shop to get it spot on and i love the way it performs on the road but the BB1 i have is the better looking/condition car and my long term plans lie with that providing i can get it up to spec.
Ive had nearly 20 years with the BB4 so its had some serious tlc on everything but the bodywork but as it stands right now its days with me might be numbered as i do need to get down to owning just one lude. Either way i do plan to fix the fuel leak and give it some more thought :)

Fuel leak and thoughts on selling BB4

Post by vanzep » Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:40 pm

I think i may have found a solution that means i dont have to remove the fuel tank :)

I found a 1/4 BSP thread (with some ptfe tape) will fit into the fuel union and has an 8mm barb connector that will take the short section of fuel hose allowing me to do the fix in situ :D

the first pic shows the top half of the fuel union and pipe that connects to the fuel pump - the pic shows the spare line that i have so will replace the whole pipe (accesing via the inspection hatch under the rear seats).

I can then cut out the small section of hard line that has the hole in it and connect it up with the fuel hose.

The 1/4 BSP fitting was closest that i could find but it is a little bit loose so will need a bit of ptfe tape and fingers crossed for no leaks.Thats the plan - will have to wait and see if it actually works.

Fuel leak - possible solution found

Ah man, I hope that works Nick! Even as a stopgap measure, would be nicer to go tank swapping in summer

Yeah that should hold not much in the way of pressure in the fuel line that would blow that off so yeah cant see why that wont work.

would watch on over tightening against the original pipe.

BB4 up for sale

Post by vanzep » Fri Feb 15, 2019 5:50 pm

Handed it in to a Honda Specialist who fixed the fuel leak :)

Its nice to be back in this car and it feels lightning fast compared to any other lude ive driven but i am getting ready to let it go after 20 years.
I guess first option will to be sell it as is with all the good parts on it- so will posting up a for sale ad in the next couple of days :(
There are some nice parts on it that could be taken off a replaced with oem which is another option but will wait and see.
Might get a short video made up
