The threaded end of the ball joint has a rubber boot, it's between the boot and the arm. The circlip sits flush with the bottom of the arm so if there is grime/grease in the way it might be hard to spot. Me and 3rdgensteve replaced all the ballpoints on my track Lude with a hammer and a pair of circlip pliers.

Mine was practically gone. Was more rust than clip! Could be the same for you - nothing a big hammer couldn't sort.mercutio wrote:yeah i know i have a couple of ball joints with the circlips and obviously there must be something to retain the joint in the arm just saying i cannot see the clip

Mm...like Ste says, it didn't look clear when we had a look at Kat's. Never had to replace mine, so never actually looked how to do it. I've seen the circlip in the pics of replacements and assumed the top brass looking cap was a cover that you flick off and the circlip would just hold it in place of the arm. The fact it's on the other side does that not mean that the circlip is holding it from coming away from the arm? Doesn't make sense in my head, but I've clearly got it completely wrong?Merlin wrote:The threaded end of the ball joint has a rubber boot, it's between the boot and the arm.
