My first Prelude

Post by R-Type » Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:19 pm

Picked up this 1997 BB8 SiR today for my sins. Unfortunately the automatic gearbox slipped in 1st and 2nd on the way home but I expected it would need some love after 200,000 km. Hopefully I can get it running properly without too much drama and then set about the cosmetics. From what I’ve seen today (thorough inspection to be had tomorrow / Sat) it should be possible to restore to something like it’s former glory. Wish me luck!

It’s ok at a glance but does have some bad points with it. Will take some more pics today in its present state before a good clean and then try to put a list together of parts needed when my brother-in-law takes a look tomorrow.

My first Prelude

Thanks Drax! I tried to take pics of all the obvious things I need to sort out to help me prioritise and ‘before and after’ shots. Also I hadn’t been able to find pics of the black half-leather SiR interior so thought others might appreciate too.
I’ve given it a thorough enough clean today and it’s not terrible condition on the outside and pretty good interior. I was worried when finding even the rear ashtray had been used but thankfully didn’t find any burns.
My plan is to simply bring it back to life, all as standard as possible. My first item was going to be the 4ws fix but with the auto box problem (D4 flashing, not engaging 1st or 2nd) that’s the priority along with changing any easy access seals / solenoids etc before tackling the exterior. Driver’s window is stuck and possible the drivers side / door electrics need replacing altogether. I’m guessing the screws from now removed wind deflectors were not factory fitted!
