Toad ai606 is a great and reliable alarm, I had one in my old Accord and it is good deterrent but also has a good immobiliser.
No alarm will stop someone breaking into your car and nicking stuff. Thieves will happily carry on for 30 seconds whilst the alarm is going as the public are generally immune to them and ignore alarms.
The best solution is to give them no reason to break in. Don't leave any spare change lying around, CDs on show, sunglasses, even empty fag packets (a thief won't know they are empty!
Make sure your hu has a removeable fascia and take it out the car whenever you park up.
If you use a sat nav, remove it and wipe off any suction marks on the screen. Same for in car cameras or speed detectors.
If someone looks in your car and sees nothing but empty door cards and pockets and a hu without a fascia, they are unlikely to break in unless they plan to steal the car, in which a good immobiliser like the ai606 should then do its job.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.
