f20 block h22 pistons

Post by A1ex » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:04 am

So,

Am I right in thinking the F20 block is the same as the F22 but destroked? So the aftermarket h22 pistons would fit & as the block is already cast it wouldn't need sleeving to fit aftermarket pistons like JE or Wiesco?

And does the H22 head bolt onto the F20/F22 block?

wouldnt a block for a single cam engine be physically smaller?

I cant see it myself thought the engines were quite diffrent

your thinking frankenstein engine? the 2.3i seems to be more of an option

The f22 looks very similar to me;

was thinking f20 as they're a bit easier to find.

Wasn't thinking a boostenstein, was thinking sillhighcompressionstein.

So would the dohc f20 / f22 block be compatable with the h22 head?

In which case there wouldn't be much point in using the dohc f20 then. I was trying to figure out if there was a way of getting the h22 head with a iron cylinders without getting it re-sleeved.

right f series!
f20- prelude engine, iron sleeve, SOHC, the head is similar to that on a h23 non vtec!
f20b- accord engine, basically a de stroked h22, same head, FRM sleevs
f20c- s2000 engine, again frm sleeved but more closley related to the k series runs backwards compared to a h series

F22a, f22b1/2, f22z- sohc non vtec and some vtec head, iron sleeves (same crank/stroke as a h23)
f22b- dohc vtec head, iron sleves
f22b1/2 sohc, some vtec some not, iron sleeves
F23- longer stroked f22a, again some vtec, some not, iron sleeved

f22c- us spec f20c same engine as our s2k more with a longer stroke!, frm sleeves the lot!

h23, dohc FRM sleeves, same block as the h22, f20b, h23 vtec
h22- as above with vtec head
h23avtec RARE! basically a combination of a h23 crank and rods with a h22 vtec head!

so to answer your question, the pistons out of a f20b will work in theory, and potentially from a f20/22c (you can research that though ;)

thought f22b is non vtec, never seen the f20 dohc vtec in a prelude

basically 2.0 single cam non vtec in base model 2.0i, and 2.2 non vtec we get in the prelude imports
