Newbie from Leicestershire
Hi all. I'm thinking of buying this Prelude, any ideas if it's overpriced or about right? I wanted something that's got 4 seats, good handling and reasonable on fuel. I'm currently driving a Mercedes 190e which is bulletproof, but a bit dull and old mannish (according to my missus at least!). What things should I be looking for in a Prelude? Thanks

Welcome to LG
Nothing wrong with a 190e, not if it has Cosworth on it lol
Is it an Auto you are specifically looking for? The 5g Auto boxes aren't too good if they haven't been looked after, fine if they have, it's a bit hit and miss.
It does look nice, motegi kit as well, I think over priced a tad, but will let the 5g'ers discuss

thats alot for an auto
if you can drive a manual, get a manual as the 5th gen auto boxes are notorious for breaking aswell as being significantly slower. thats also a very early 5th gen and the rust bug will potentially be after it soon, i had an r plate and it was like swiss cheese underneath!
for that money you can get a late 5th gen with the best engine (h22a8), better gearbox (closer ratios), heated seats and best air intake along with all the other toys you would want! the mileage on that one isnt outstandingly low but it does have leather, the later i suspect you'll be able to find if you wait for the right one!

Welcome aboard.
As Phil said, go for a 1999+ manual. Quicker (197bhp, instead of 185bhp in the 1998's) and less prone to rust.

Welcome to the forum.
I am a fan of auto boxes, and been fairly lucky in that 2 of my 3 5th gens have been ok so far (hope I havent spoken too soon).
My first one was at the right price as it had a known gearbox problem - £2000 to overhaul so has to be a consideration.
The 'lude you are looking at does look tidy, but I would say a bt overpriced.
