no problem, might seem like we are bashing you, but we are only giving you best advice

Ah, that would b ugger up both front main & aux readings! Ratty & I neglected to mention rice mods wrecking it!

You might need a good four-wheel alignment though, to ensure everything is equal and opposite, if the rear remains weird.

See

for a fuller explanation.

I do get sick of the all 4WS will kill you crap, it's like anything else, it needs to be maintained.
I agree. The only difficulty I had when driving was when the back end unexpectedly went from 'broken' (2WS) to 'fixed' (4WS).

I just think it's like anything involving a car nearly 20 years old, it should be looked at with realistic goggles
Oh and no, I wouldn't drive it with any sort of enthusiasm if the light was on, I'd sort it.
Again, I agree. To both statements.
My concern is that even though it's been working well for a while now, I'm loath to put as much side load on it as I would a properly subframed 2WS system. The car's on 160k and the previous owner had removed the warning bulb ...

That's a fair concern Sailor 8-) , but I'd say as long as you (or your chosen mechanic of course) have checked the system over for faults/play etc. and found it to be functioning fully and showing no codes, I would get on and enjoy it.
It's the mentality I've had about mine, at 180k now.

One thing I should add is that a PROPER 4 wheel geo is ESSENTIAL on the 4WS system, makes an even more noticeable difference than on a 2WS as you can imagine.

The sad fact is, these cars only need to be neglected by one previous owner to show foul play (like fuse removal  ), and now they are 20 odd years old most of them have had a few. :(
