My lude (2.2 VTI UK specc) Im 23, 3 years NCB, 6 points (3 for speeding and 3 for a bald tyre) declared as lowered on coilovers, full exhaust modifications and filters £730 fully comp, includes key cover, legal cover, hire car, legal fees, windscreen, No excess, i can drive other cars on third party insurance cover and loads more bits and bobs.

I thought that was quite cheap considering.

Insurers were against the equality act and the ABI took it to court and lost. So it is far from a money making plot.

There has been a reduction in male rates and an increase in female rates to make the balance, but remember gender is only one of many influencing factors.

It doesn't work like this but let's say the boys rates are 20% more than girls, so a simple equality rating is boys come down 10% and girls go up 10%.

If due to CORs the insurers apply a book rate increase of 15%, taking into account the gender equality, then the boys would see a 5% increase and the girls would see a 25% increase.

That is over simplified and it is far more complicated, but hopefully explains that even with a reduction for gender, it doesn't necessarily mean your premium will come down.

Saying that though, on average male rates have reduced since December.

I'd surprised you can drive other cars as I thought you had to be over 25 and then they still are very funny about it

And for the driving other cars bit, i was shocked my self. But a few companys allow it. Just got to be lucky!
