I looked at insurance on a UKDM before and it was cheaper than a standard lude. For me anyway

Had one. Didn't 'love' it so got rid

Felt like a big heavy ponderous saloon after a tweaked ITR

Great on VTEC but very flat below. The standard mapping is not so great- felt like a huge jump at 6k rpm as it hit VTEC.

Was also a pig to keep it in VTEC without revving it to within a gnats of the rev limiter

Just being honest with my experiences

ATR + Exhaust + ECU + Proper remap = 240bhp and a shed load of torque in a super wide band - The car it should have been right from the start!!

Awesome and very underated cars...also quite misunderstood. More modern and user friendly for those with needs for passenger carrying and boot space.
Quite a few nasty tatty unloved examples out there now though unfortunately which have clouded how good they are, find a good one and do what I said in the opening line and you then have a terrific car.

It'll never be a Lude though ;)

Got one - Love it

For those that don't know i had a 5G Accord (cc7) for over 10 years and bought a Lude as second car/summer toy, with a view to taking the engine out and putting it in my Accord.

I fell in love with the Lude, spent too much time on it (my car cleaning time was doubled due to having 2 cars  ) and ended up spending a fortune on it. The Lude moved into the garage and the Accord onto the street, which i hated after all those years of keeping my Accord gleaming.

The Accord gearbox was getting noisier and i decided it was easier to sell it as a going concern rather be worth nothing with a drokked gearbox. The Lude had become a weekend garage queen so was no longer suitable for me as a daily/family car. I was also getting a lot of friction from owning 2 cars.

So i made the decision to sell both and get an ATR, it has all the benefits of both cars, 4 doors, a decent boot of the CC7 and the engine/handling of the Lude.

The first week of ownership was spent searching google on how to lower the seat as if felt like driving a transit van. Then you settle in and it becomes perfect, going back to a Lude didn't feel quite right for me.

The build quality isn't as good as my old CC7 or the Lude, but that could be down to the car being much more raw, ie no sound deadening, no toys etc. The Lude was originally marketed as a rich man's sports car, a weekend toy for the affluent Accord driver, with lots of showcase technology and a high spec of equipment. The ATR was marketed as a road going track car, one you drive to work and put on the track at the weekend.

I miss my Lude, but because of the work i put into it and look i achieved. The ATR isn't as pretty, but it is growing on me. It is much more comfortable to sit in (the Lude sometime felt claustrophobic, but i am a fat rhubarb) and i reckon the ATR is much better car to drive. More power and better handling, braking etc.

As mentioned though, the big downside is that the Vtec kicks at 5.8k, so you have to take it almost to the limiter to shift up in the happy zone.

They aren't without their faults, they are 10+ year old cars, but the Lude is no different.

Personally i think the Lude, in standard form, whether 4G or 5G, is looking dated now and there are some real rusty/nasty looking shitboxes about, which kind of devalues them. A decent one still looks fantastic though.

The Accord is beginning to date too, hence i chose the facelift version, maybe not quite as mean looking as the pre-facelift, but the subtle changes make it look modern.

Phil, if you in Swindon, you are welcome to come have a sit in mine and i'll take you out for a spin so you can see what you think.

Roughly how much dosh are we talking for the ECU & Remap, Rich? As you know, I have Typhoon & Exhaust and the other bits you have done, so realistically how much more noticeable power will i see from the ECU & remap?
