Are you going to weld bellmouths onto the inlets of the runners?

Yeah they will be welded internally and external best he can get to, then weld the charge cooler in the space left and fingers crossed it works hehe.

Pete, I think he means bellmouths as in trumpets like you put on ITB's. So no is the answer to that one.

Pete you still going to trim back some of the walls between the runners on the inlet side? :D

Oh and... :scaredtoss:
Excited much!

Oh rite I see.

Yeah I will do rob just waiting for the welder, may get him tomorrow afternoon. It's worth the wait tho, he's the only guy I'd give it to and luckily one of the best welders we have :)

Hi Pete,

I would possibly reconsider that design, here are some considerations I think would allow the design to work better, though you may have already considered them!

1. Remove the runners pre charge cooler and use a large volume plenum.
2. Increase the volume after the charge cooler.
3. Install bellmouths onto the runners post charge cooler.

How does the water flow through your charge cooler?

I completely agree Mudgey, all those things would improve the flow and efficiency of it, but it's all further custom design work. This was a simple cut and shut job. See the pics of the existing manifold and the spare Landrover V8 chargecooler in my build thread that I've handed to Pete:

http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/post155273.html#p155273 (the bottom of this post)

The restrictions are to keep it simple that the inlet side had to keep the top part of the manifold for OEM fitment of the JRSC plenum and that the outlet (into the engine) had to retain from the fuel rail studs forward, so installation of the fuel rail and injectors wouldn't be compromised. This left us with a fair amount of area in the middle to remove the EGR section and runners. I left it to Pete to come up with a solution with what can only be described as a 5 year olds (mine) sketch of what I 'thought' could be done.

Just checked out your build log, that charge cooler core looks like it could work for my installation also! How much can you pick those up for!?

I picked that up for £76 delivered - new old stock. Worth £££ new. The same seller has the other chargecooler for the other half of the V8:

The Jag XKR ones can be had cheap but mostly second hand. For the money, I'd snap up the other landrover one.

I also bought the rad heat exchanger a while back for very cheap, spotted a similar one just this week - £90 is ridiculous:

Then I have a brand new Hella water pump from a Jag XKR. The guy had a few new old stock, but can't find any listed right now. Too be honest the Bosch pump that is always listed is a little pricier but its a larger unit, seen as an upgrade to the Hella. I'll get one eventually.

Just a reservoir tank and piping to connect everything up left to get.

Helpful much? :D

I did spot this though:

Nice one!

Will consider the other half of the manifold!

Tbh there is enough room in our cars to fit an escort etc car radiator you can pick up for £25, make up some adapters and you have the best rad you can get! Might be worth thinking about!

Thanks for the help!
