I'm not sure this is necessarily true. There are two circuits: one for the fuel pump and one for the ignition. I think it's possible to get a dry joint in one half and not the other.

It was the the distributor.

Literally took 15 mins to change over, only had to adjust the timing slightly.

Yeah, so happy it's sorted. Not what I needed after 4 weeks working on a boat!

Really surprised at how easy and how quick it was to replace.
