VTEC Crossover sounding less agressive?

cleaning any and all filters out is going to have a benifit

they were made to do a job and the fact you have bits in shows it is doing what it was designed for

so all power to you m8 for putting in the effort a little tlc goes a long way

(and now i know which bit the Vtec solenoid is

)

it just filters the oil entering the solenoid, i guess if your filter is clogged up, engagement responsiveness may be effected? its probably worth just changing the gasket/filter (£19 delivered on ebay from the usa)

my old filter had loads of little bits jammed in it

I've got a sat without the missus so I might take my filter off and make sure all's ok. Don't have a replacement tho so just gonna have to attack it with some metal parts cleaner...

Ah so THAT's the VTEC solenoid. I'll get that out and changed as soon as the weather is a little nicer!

i would imagine a good clean is all thats required with no need to change it unless the seal is damaged

The thing is, on most ludes its probably not been changed before so by just removing it you will probably damage the seal and trigger an oil leak! Well that's what happened to me anyway

That, and mine was so old the seal was just compressed completely flat, so it wasn't sealing (at least that's my guess, there was no damage to it!) After replacing it, no more leak

Same here as well, only take the solenoid off if you have a replacement seal/filter!
