Thanks for the tag

Catching up with sleep, work, dreams of strange seas and nightmares willowy.....

Bit fecked tonight, but the plague of Dog will likely return in a couple days....
I can tell you though, I met a kangaroo, and it's clearly just a rabbit that our antipodean cousins have allowed to get very badly out of hand.
G'nght fer now...

Aaaargh! Well you might get this afore ye go...
Melbourne was great, thanks

I might do a "Notes on Oz" kind of post at some point, but, for now, what would I do if I had 9 hours between flights? Well, assuming it's in the day, and that you want to leave a couple of hours at either end to be on the safe side and for travel... I'd get a train to Flinders Street station in Melbourne, cross the road to Federation Square, get a free map from the Tourist Info. centre and eat blueberry pancakes for brunch (or whatever) outside at the cafe 30 metres away while I looked at it. Then I'd wander off for an hour (You're already in the middle of the city) around the Central Business district (Which is just the name of the centre) to get a feel for Melbourne's slightly Aus/european feeling vibe. Pop down De Graves street (well, alley really) for a coffee or food - a little bohemian, a little studenty, and nice. If you fancy something more dramatic get a cab the mile to Skydeck and see the area from the highest viewing platform in the southern hemisphere (About £15 quid, mind). Then from there or the centre back towards Fed. Square where you can peel off to a museum of your choice if you like that kind of thing. I'd spend an hour in ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) which has some fun stuff and is free. Then sit outside the Japanese place on the square* watching whatever's on the big screen or the stage, eating or just supping a cool beer or two and watching good looking Aussies wander by. Then walk the 50 metres back to the station and back towards the plane.

Edit: Pic added - *Beer in Fed Square, Skydeck in background....

Make the effort, mate. Even if you're knackered and get even less time to look around, we don't often get the chance to fill the soul with what we see travelling. Maybe nothing refreshes more. But I guess from the trip you know that already

Have a belter, whatever.

Thanks doggo, i'll take travel advice in hand, funny, you know, lots of people travel, mainly ticking boxes off, I love having the time to relax, people watch, and take in new environments. The trip is definitely a period of 'renewing' for me, its been 3 winters stuck here now, I desperately need the change of environment.
