Yup siezed bolt in a captive nut = snappage. Its common on Ludes, I had to drill out my rad mounts on my old 97 Lude as the bolts snapped.nitin_s1 wrote:That's what I need.Merlin wrote:Someone should do a write up on how to drill out snapped rad mount bolts, it might be needed
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

5g CF upper rad mounts (9 new pics pg3)
I've snapped 1 in each of my rad mounts, after they snapped covered the other 2 in WD40 and was all good
I have a drill bit for screws with stripped heads, may give that a go and see if it works.
Nitin, postage weight is like 15 grams so a stamp will cover it and they're made of carbon fibre so not going to get damaged. I can post a set up (when they're finished) if you want to take a look before you buy them. Same goes for any other frequent users

Lots of wd 40 preferably starting the day before you want to remove anything and work them back and forth gently adding more wd 40 as you go. im lucky enough to have a hot axe for the really stubborn ones but thats not always practical when painted items are involved so patience, wd40 and treat the small ones with a bit of respectMerlin wrote:Yup siezed bolt in a captive nut = snappage.
