Saw this advertised on Film4 last night and decided I wasn't going to wait a week to watch it and found it elsewhere.

I've recorded Martyrs to watch, that is supposed to be good.

Mr Vampyre is without doubt the best film to come out of HK.

Tetsuo is a strange but good B&W HK movie too

Don't know where to start with this one - about half my DVD's are "foreign".... here's a few...

Takeshi Kitano is good:
- Sonatine (Ganstery but also meditative in places. A good film)
- Zatoichi (Samurai)

Also Kim Jee Woon: (He has just gone Hollywood)
- A Bittersweet LIfe (Great dark gangstery again. Imdb list it as Dalkomhan insaeng from 2005, not the 2015 film)
- The good, the bad and the weird. (To a lesser extent. A bizarre eastern Western)

Stephen Chow (?):
- Kung Fu Hustle (Fantastic Kung Fu/Comedy)

Pedro Almodovar (Odd but sometimes very good Spanish director. Offbeat human dramas)
- Volver
- Talk to her

Studio Ghibli (Animation - Miyazaki et al)
- Howls Moving Castle
- freaking insane Away (My Fav Ghibli)

Festen, a quiet Danish film Directed by Thomas Vinterberg is brilliant

If anyone wants a general recommendation about now, it's a very tacky and very violent but I enjoyed "Machete" (Robert Rodriguez). Especially if you like Tarantino.

Edit: Really should have mentioned +1 on Pans Labyrinth. Devils Backbone by same director (Guillermo del Toro) is also supposed to be good but not seen it.
