FAIL!!


I knew I'd have trouble, so I first went to the professionals.
They told me that the heating process they use would cause bubbles to seep out of the metal underneath the coating, so it was back to DIY.
I tried painting the Rustins on but it left brush marks, so I put it into my airbrush.
I managed to get an even coat over all the wheels but it left them with a matt finish.
Once they'd dried, I found that it could be scratched off really easily.

I thought that maybe If I sprayed a layer of aerosol lacquer over the top, that would seal it in.
WRONG!!

It started to peel off. Luckily I'd only done one of the wheels with this.
So.....I've had to re-work all the wheels back up to the polished stage.
This is how I'm going to leave them.
I'll see how they fare over the Winter. They may need polishing occasionally.
I'm going to use some Chemical Guys Jetseal on them just for a layer of protection and then get the tyres fitted.
I'll post some pictures up once they're fitted.
