So an update on the progress of the wagon.
I drove it to the unit and got it tucked away.
finally got to use my genuine honda cover

At the unit we tried to diagnose the knocking issue but it was a bit baffling as it did it sometimes then didn't. Did and oil change to see if there was any metal on the magnetic sump plug and a few other things.
In the end I decided to go all or nothing and drive it nearly 2hrs to Mimms Honda day.
So to get it looking somewhat respectable I rattlecan'd my damaged front lip to make it less noticable.

Gave the Volks a good cleanup and refitted those.
Parked up and ready to go.

So.... well... it didn't quite make it there.
On the way the car started to struggle and missfire going up inclines, until we going about 10mins away from the show and the car gave up. Pulling away from a junction, it was spluttering and missing like crazy and just would'nt go any further. So I ended up getting towed the rest of the way
We got into the show and I fired her up again and straight away a friend said cut it... It sounds like the beslt slipped some teeth on the cams.
So we removed the rocker cover to assess. Straight away we saw the issue. The bolt that holds the front cam on had worked loose and the keyway had started to work its way out.
So we tightend the bolt back up and checked to see if the timing was still correct and it was. Put everything back together and fired her up.... she purred like a kitten
.

Drove her all the way back with zero issues.
So a few pics from Mimms
with the other wagon and my bros 3rd gen

Cheers mate, yeah it could have been pretty catastrophic. The plastic cam cover was basically holding the nut on.NafemanNathan wrote:Nice escape there Mart! That could have got very nasty indeed![]()
