It did 240.000 miles without any great issues, and the Manta was based on the Mk1 cavalier underpinnings. And the 2 litre 130 b.h.p. engine was much better than the 115 bhp one. But either way, not many of either model left now.

as previously described, subject to rot, tho. Not that Cavaliers were all that better, still, mine got to 16 years old and the only bad rust was to the rear wings where the 2 pressings meet and overlap causing a humidity trap.

Mine went to the scrappers with full Bilstein and stainless exhaust setups. Wasn't able to get them off before having to get rid :shock: What a plonker!!

When ours started to oxidise in the wrong places, it went to a chap who wanted the 300k miles engine for his Chevette.

you should have kept it I saw a coupe go for around 5k and it was a real basket case

Old cortinas are similar money in similar condition. Very rarely do Mk2 cav's come up for sale, and SRI's seem to be virtually extinct.
