To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Flat metal strip fuses

Post by jjmartin349571 » Sat Nov 16, 2013 7:34 pm

Hi folks,

Does anyone know where I can get a 65 amp one of these fuses?

I melted it earlier :(

A quick search has led me to some in sunny California, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone on here knows of somewhere more convenient I can get them!

Cheers,
Josh

Breakers yard, or cars breaking on here? My '87 Accord has a similar fuse, but it doesn't fit as it has a little box thing on it which means you can't close the fuse cover. I assumed newer cars would've had this too so didn't bother checking if the one out my BB4 will fit. I'll go look now!

The proper name is a tab fuse, offset forks 65a, there will be differing lengths available, but i'm not sure how these will be coded/ described

Cheers mate, seems they're a bit hard to come by from my searches this evening. The joys of owning an old car :( if all else fails I'll have to run a newer fuse and just remove the inner fuse cover for clearance.

if they are hard to come by, why dont you just solder 60 amp fuse wire to the remaining tabs as a temporary fix. simples.

Might try fuse wire as a temp fix. I think Honda may still do the proper fuses so I'll give them a call. Guess I'll be doing another 70 mile round trip if they do! This Prelude better be worth all the trouble once it's running

I looked on ebay earlier, it only gave me hrc tab fuses that we used in industry, try any decent automotive shop, they should have them , not Halfords, its too techy for them, they are commonly used on motorcycles as the main fuse between battery lead and main harness, but I've seen these and the aforementioned PAL fuses (the ones with the coloured enclosure) quite regularly at good independants, endangered species.
