honing tool

Post by Drax » Tue Apr 01, 2014 4:26 pm

ive been offered the use of a honing tool to mark the cylinder bores in the replacement block - they are all currently nice smooth and unmarked, but ive been told this should ensure the rings bed in properly and preserve compression, this a good thing to do on a H series block? or a no no.

Yes you need to with the new ring but you can guarantee what you've been offered is the wrong type for your block.

The frm liners must use a fixed hone and the correct stones which are alot softer I assume. I spoke to rich at paw about this awhile ago and mentioned a kind of brush thing that can be used very lightly but I haven't confirmed what type yet.

Prob best to give him a pm and see if he can help?

I'm pretty sure it's a no no as you need a special tool?

EDIT: looks like Pete beat me to it. 8-)
