REVIEW - Autobrite Direct Wheel Brush

Post by nick_s » Mon Apr 14, 2014 1:15 pm

WHAT IS IT?
Autobrite Direct Long Wheel Brush

WHAT DOES IT BRING TO THE TABLE?
This NEW Professional Blue Alloy Wheel Brush is made of soft, Nylon bristles that gently loosen dirt from metal surfaces without scratching or dulling the metal.

It is resistant to chemicals so you can use any kind of cleaner with this Professional Alloy Wheel Brush. Vinyl is bonded to the tip of the brush and a non-scratch sleeve covers the space between the handle and the bristles so that no part of the brush can scratch.

A vinyl coated flexible stem allows the brush to conform to every curve on your bike or vehicle.

Use this brush to clean between spokes, grills, pipes, around bumpers, mufflers, engines, between the forks, by the chain, and anywhere else that conventional cleaning tools will not fit.

WHAT AM I TESTING IT ON?
2001 Vectra B SRi Alloys

WHAT DO I THINK OF IT?
First impressions are “it’s a big one!”, but this is a good thing. Many wheel brushes don’t have the bulk of bristles along the shaft that this does. The handle is slim, yet comfortable in the hand, very ergonomic I must say. The tip on most wheel brushes is a weak point, but initial impressions are that this one will last. Not too big that it catches on disk guards or catch in a caliper carrier. Just right.

As for cleaning, well, it’s generally going to be as good as the wheel cleaner you use it with, and to be honest, when paired with Very Cherry Non Acid, this is unlikely to fail. It got everywhere I needed it to go (right to the back of the rim with room to spare), including in the tight spaces between the carrier and rim, and made the most of the chemical cleaner. The bristles stayed firm throughout, and a quick rinse under low pressure cleaned it spotlessly ready for the next wheel.

What more could I ask for? Long term durability would be nice. I’ll update every so often with a condition status.

Pro's & Con's

The pros are simple. It is big enough to tackle the widest of rims with ease, and gentle to boot. A well protected tip is a very welcome addition, as is a very comfortable handle, and a non-exposed shaft.

Cons? Scraping the barrel here, it’s not the cheapest wheel brush around, but still (in my honest opinion) offers value for money.

And a couple of photos for those who like to see the beast in action:

Have to take your word for that,I don't intend to rub my bog brush over my hand(or anywhere else for that matter)
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.
