Windscreen Chip v Wax

Post by Raggagirl » Mon Oct 27, 2014 7:06 pm

Does anyone on here wax their windscreen?? I had Auto Glass come out to repair a chip this afternoon. He claimed that the chip could not be repaired and that now my car is an MOT fail because he cant pass the repair, and it is all because I waxed my windscreen. Can anyone shed any light on this matter please?

A wipe down with panel wipe or IPA will remove any wax. The windscreen guys normally wipe it anyway to make sure they have a clean surface.

Surprised you wax your screen though, it normally makes the blades smear.

Blades dont smear at all, and it works a treat as it keeps the glass uber clean. I dont know if there are any other glass repair people out there, I think I might have heard of one other, not as popular as autoglass.
I knew he was talking a load of croc but i did not really want to tell him so.

The AA says they cant help now that one company has already done something to it as it would compromise the stability of the screen. Darn it! :!: :!:
