Hey all,
My black H22A5 5G has had a knackered 5th gear syncro for some time now. It crunches going in above 2000rpm, all the other gears are fine.
I acquired a H22A8 a little while ago, and was thinking of doing a gearbox straight swap into my H22A5 as their both manual. Would I encounter any issues, are they different in any way? Or do you reckon I should just take the gearbox out of my A5 and just replace the syncro's? How much is a syncro?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Cheers Brandon

Yes it is a straight swap. I prefer the H22a8's M2P4 compared to the H22a5 M2V5.
They differ in gear ratio's and final drive. The H22a8's M2P4 will allow the car to accelerate quicker, although it sits at a slightly higher rpm on the motorway. It is miles better in town though, you can easily pootle in 3rd.
