Don't worry, I know where you're coming from
I hate any rattles or noises, in fact it was quite good fitting the new speakers and centre console to mine the other day as I found just a few broken clips and fixings here and there (like the grey poppers that hold the door cards on) replaced them and now everything sounds and 'feels' solid. 8-)

nearly done

Post by vanzep » Sat Oct 01, 2016 4:01 pm

almost there - managed to find the timing marks (tdc&15+/-2) and paint them in on the flywheel so i will be able to do the disti timing.
just a few minor rattles in the cabin to sort out and thats it done for now.
ATR cams, timing belt and tensioner conversion can wait until next year maybe :)

New front mount and idle adjustment

Post by vanzep » Fri Oct 07, 2016 2:08 pm

The vibration issue has been sorted :D
Ive been at the point of nearly giving up over the last few months but i got an email reminder for the insurance due at the end of this month and also due for an MOT test and road tax so that brought everything into sharp focus - So i thought id better get it sorted once and for all. :x
I took out the front es poly mount and fitted a brand new aftermarket (OEM Style) front mount which reduced the vibration quite a bit and then set the base idle using the guide in the wiki - but rather than set the idle to spec i set the idle where there was no vibration - it was easy to do and has made a world of difference to the running of the car.
The front mount is a copy of the OEM mount and is made by YAMATO pt no.154099YMT I got it on ebay for just over £30 :) Looks to be a well made part but i will be checking it for wear once a week.
Just need to wire up the fog light and it should be ready to present for MOT.

Refurbed alloys & MOT prep

Post by vanzep » Wed Nov 02, 2016 2:03 pm

Ive refurbed the alloys that came with the car - I know theyre not to everyones taste but they are Honda OEM and they will do as a spare set or winter wheels for either of the ludes if needed.
They were pretty corroded on the back of the wheels and had mega amounts of backed on brake dust so all had to be stripped back to bare metal. Bit of pain to get them done but quite pleased with the results :)

Ive also been working hard to fix a cold start issue and have replaced a number of parts with some improvement recently from changing over the coolant temp sensor. Will be keeping an eye on this over the next few days to see if it has been sorted.

Ive also fixed the rear fog light with help from @Merlin.
Only thing left to do prior to MOT is fix a leak at the back box gasket. This has been done a number of times but cant seem to get a permenant fix.
MOT is due 14th December.
