4th Gen 2.0i Not Starting Issue

Hi Guys,

I recently bought this donor car which ended up looking better than pictures when it arrived. I'm now thinking of tidying it up and putting it back on the road. It has been sat for 6 years as the previous owner got a company and this was pushed into a barn.

When trying to start it, it sounds really weird but engine is turning, opened the cam belt case to check.

I'm getting sparks through the leads and can hear the fuel pump priming through.

Can any share any light on this?

The only issue I have found is that the clutch slave cylinder has failed so the clutch pedal is to the floor.

If you have any ideas, please let me know and ill give it a try if I haven't already.

Have you checked for fuel engine end? And have you also put any new fuel in?

Is there a new battery in there? Sounds like it's not to me. Could be the dizzy, main relay, alternator...

Hi Guys,

I found the issue, it's got really bad compression... Engine is caput unfortunately so I'll be breaking it.

Aww man please don't break it if it's good, change the engine too many good gen 4s are disappearing sadly.. If I had room I'd buy it and save it but sadly I don't
