I've recently started a YouTube channel: nothing fancy, just edits from dashcam footage of our road trips.
As it's little more than an experiment to see how it works, I'm not bothered about the views as such, but I do have a couple of questions.
1. Are shorter clips likely to get more views if they're in the Music category rather than Travel?
2. Why is there a discrepancy between the number of views given in my channel and those given in the general public area?
My theory for the latter is that the Channel shows how many times the video has been opened and the public bit shows only those that have been watched for more than x% of their total length, but I've found no way of confirming this.
Any experts out there?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

I have a video channel too with some video collection of my car, holiday trips and some community events etc etc.
Any video I upload doesn't get that much views (around ~500 views) if I just upload it and leave it there. But if I share it on a social media like my Type-S video on Facebook Prelude pages then it gets a lot.. Same for my community video too, it didn't get any views but as soon I uploaded it on a page where there are lots of member the view count shot up..
Not sure if I answered your question ..

500? My average is less than 6!nitin_s1 wrote:Any video I upload doesn't get that much views (around ~500 views) if I just upload it and leave it there. But if I share it on a social media like my Type-S video on Facebook Prelude pages then it gets a lot.
I see. I don't dabble in social media, except for 3 car forums. Not that it matters, I think my clips are of limited interest anyway.nitin_s1 wrote:But if I share it on a social media like my Type-S video on Facebook Prelude pages then it gets a lot.
Here's an example. I wouldn't blame you if you don't want to watch the lot! But at least scroll to about 1m15s to look at some French Porsches. One of them was silly enough to make me back off to avoid a collision.
