It wont be. 4th and 5th are different.
newkid has one that came off a 2.2 vtec jdm auto 4th - it was an aftermarket one and not a 100percent direct fit as i think it didnt have the belt tensioner bit on it but worked fine - looked very new when it taken off the car.
alternatively there is a company on ebay that will recondition your old alternator for £90...so you will need to send them the one you have

hmmm - the 4th gen auto must have a different alternator - i wonder what the difference is?
the one in import 4th gen vtec MANUAL is denso CJP75 Honda 31100p13013 - (part numbers taken from alternator i have here.)
Other numbers on it are 10 0211-8740
the one in import 4th gen vtec AUTO is denso CJP13 Honda 31100p13003 - (part numbers you have.)
its the same engine so you would think an alternator from a manual import vtec would work
you could always ask newkid if he still has the aftermarket one that came out an auto...

That alternator will work for all 4th gens.
Alternatively, reconditioning your existing is just a case of replacing the regulator and rectifier. About £40 combined.

There is practically no difference between auto and manual alternators. My car used to be an auto and had that alternator, it now rocks its 3rd alternator (had it 15 years). Last one came from a broke manual.
You can even rock a 5th gen alternator of your willing to change the green plug on the car or swap the regulator.
