Lude has a horney problem

Post by RattyMcClelland » Sat Jul 28, 2012 11:22 am

The situation is at complete randomness the horn will go off with either a blip or a full on non stop horn whilst driving. Usually happens with sudden movement like WOT/braking and bumpy roads.

Iv checked the horn connections under the engine and they are fine and completely OEM.
But remember i have put an EP3 wheel on. Could it be a loose connection there?

Its very irritating comming up to a roundabout behind a car and i beep constantly until i hit the horn to turn it off and i get the evil eye.
At the moment iv disconnected them both.

Whats the deal bitches?

If doing that makes a difference it must be something to do with a dodgy loose connection in whatever you're hitting - so my bet's on the steering wheel wiring or switch.

I suspect it's something to do with the EP conversion; the horn wire is earthing to the steering column & triggering the relay. Either the wheel is moving on the spline, or the pick-up ring, or your 4WS cutout has upset something.

You might be able to replicate it by sitting there with the ign. on & feigning an anger attack!

ATTS cutout ;)

I will check the wiring. I do remember removing a wire that seems unnecessary but it was all plug and play so cant see whats what.

Well i remove the airbag/horn region of the wheel and checked. Wiring is PERFECT.
The DC5/EP3/S2000 wheels horn is used i 3 places. Bottom and the left and right. So there are 3 points of contact to made the Lude horney.
I noticed the bottom position is a bit too easy to use due to gravity and it being at the bottom.
SO i remove the metal contact point so the bottom position no longer horns.

AND

It seems to have worked. No horneyness whilst driving. I can still use the left and right sides perfectly.

Boom.

Im amazing. Self rep.
