Where to get a 12v switched signal from in the Lude?

To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Where to get a 12v switched signal from in the Lude?

Post by RattyMcClelland » Sat Sep 07, 2013 9:16 pm

I need a switched 12v source for when iginition is on.
It needs to be a permanent 12v switch so id rather not tap into say the cig lighter. Im tapping 3 3a fused source into it. Anywhere on the fuse box?

Pictures would help also.

Thanks homos.

Can't think of one of the top of my head that meets the requirements. How about using the cigarette lighters feed to switch a relay and take your feed direct from the constant live in the dash loom?

If it's to be switched, why does the ignition need to be on?

I'm not sure about 5gen but I assume it will be the same. You should easily find some single connectors in underdash fusebox. There must be constant live, switched live, dash ilumination live and ground. Just use multimeter to identify them. I'm not sure how much current you can get from them. Normaly all option stuff using them so you should be fine.

What Mercutio said. The ignition is the switched.
I cant use my stereo since my stereo is wired in differently as it has its own DC power supply and its worth more than the car.
Im hoping for a fuse box area hack.

Ill figure one out.
