Nope, no need to format it - you'll be overwriting the file system with the clone anyway.

You will literally do NOTHING with the new drive, other than plug it in

use treesize to work out where all your space has gone, its a good way to get an indication of where the space has gone!

yeah my SSD filled up quicker than I thought

I was only using it for the OS

just bought Samsung 250gb

Out of interest, can I use the old SSD for anything?
I was thinking it might be usable as a Photoshop scratch disc, but not sure if there will be any issues with plugging it back into the computer.
