I've always been a Playstation fanboy. I've never played an Xbox and don't feel I've missed out. :|
However, I've heard all PS4 games will need to be downloaded so you won't actually have a physical copy. :o

ALL my PS3 games are second-hand because I refuse to pay the full extortionate price for new.
Looks like I won't be buying any of the new games consoles anytime soon.

There'll be a bit of a backlash I think, and I think you'll find the old consoles rising in cost, as people relive some classics again. TBH, the last few years I've picked up a Dreamcast and a Megadrive, still have have a bunch of others in the loft, and most of the time it's those that get used when people come round.

I hope you're right about this Lude-dude. :P
If all else fails, I still have a Sega Megadrive in the loft and my old PS1 and PS2. :sega:

I've already got a box in the living room that does a lot of what they're proposing with Xbox One - it's called a PC.

I'm looking forward to the next generation consoles because it usually means an overall jump in graphics on my preferred gaming platform - the PC.

Yes - a lot of PC games look better than consoles anyway, but there'll always be the multi-platform games which have been held back when released on PC due to the limitations of consoles.

I disagree with you there...

Consoles are now getting to where PCs were years ago.

A dedicated gaming PC (not just talking about a ready made branded one either) is and IMO always will be superior to consoles. Consoles can be good but they have to be affordable and smaller than a PC otherwise they're just not worth it to your average consumer... and so that is why consoles are always inferior. Most people want something that's gonna look good under their TV, is playable from your couch laying horizontal, and without the 'nerdy' stigma of saying "yeah I play games on my PC". Consoles are for bros with swag. Xbox One, it's shiny and can connect to the internet and play videos and you can put a disc in it and have a controller. Welcome to Windows ME on your Dell.

I am a console player.

Not hating on consoles either, they're convenient and if you're not hardcore into playing everything in HD*∞ then for most people the PS3 or Xbox 360 will suffice.

I was going somewhere with this but I cba as already I can detect the feels of the great console vs. PC debate of 2013.

And Confused, I get what you're saying. Multiplatform games are always dogshit when they're 'averaged out' but IMO any dev. that doesn't release the game as well as it can be per platform is lazy and cheap.

I've been an Xbox fan since he first one came out but think I'll be going PS4 this time round.

Got the impression that they're more interested in the tv/social media bollocks than games.

Seems people who want their game consoles to play games are now the minority

What I mean is that as the lowest-common-denominator (ie, the console) is more powerful and more graphically impressive, the PC games that are multi-platform or use a shared engine get a higher level of graphics too.

Of course, anything PC-only or that's predominately PC is always going to be better graphically than a console - I'm mostly talking about the multi-platform stuff (of which, unfortunately, but due to increased time/effort required now to develop, is more common)
