Oh and just to add, in the interests i pinning my colours to my mast and genuine debate, I genuinely hope we stay together, I think we are better that way, BUT I do believe that everyone has the right to determine their own destiny.
The issue I have with THIS particular vote, is that, to me anyway, Salmond seems to be totally winging it, he has no clue of what to do (and what he can and can't do)if he gets his wish.
EVERYONE needs more of a plan than that :!:

To be fair that was some time ago and the topic was about lift incest and then someone mentioned independence and the whole thing got a bit crazy, I don't think the same result is going to come from a SERIOUS discussion between adults about the benefits/drawbacks of independence.
I don't see anything in this thread that is asking for serious debate just rants about if your going your not coming back, your too poor and uneducated etc. The usual. Hence there will be no debate.

If this is what LG is coming to then my enthusiasm is going to wane very quickly no matter what the outcome on the 18th.
Have you done a nitin and only read the last post?

(Also this is not me invalidating LLL's post)

No I read all the thread and as per usual when it comes to Scottish Independence it is wholly negative and full of pokes at Scotland or mr fishy etc. Poor show.

No more comments from me on this issue I think I've about had it.

This is why we can't have nice things.

You need to see past your view that this whole thread is about Scotland. It's really not.

Seriously?! :?
You picked up on THAT, my (very poor) play on words and made all sorts of assumptions?
I'M ON YOUR SIDE FERCHRISAKES - Choose your own destiny!! No, I don't like Salmond, but I don't like Cameron, Clegg or countless other politicians either :!:
The POINT I was making is that people should vote based on PLAN and POLICY and CONSEQUENCES, not a guy that IMO, and it's only that, doesn't have a clue.

Christ, if you took my fishy comment that seriously, you really must go through life thinking everyone hates you...

And I still state, I'm not calling you a kilt wearing scotch drinking fried mars bars eater, so please don't call me a LLL :D ;)
If anything I'm on your bloody side!

Westminster/Cameron very much wanted it, but lost/relinquished it in negotiations with Salmond who really wanted to get rid of it for reasons that apparently are only now a lot more obvious to a lot of people.
Not so.
From The Scotsman, 2 years ago:
"In a blunt message to Scottish politicians and voters, sources close to Prime Minister David Cameron say an increase in powers – such as devo-max – is “inconsistent” with staying in the UK"

Other papers at the time were baffled by the position.

More recently (Monday), the New Statesmen had:
"After calling the SNP leader's bluff in January 2012, the PM had denied him the second question he wanted on devo max."
and
"The UK government originally insisted that it would only give Scotland the right to hold a binding referendum (a power constitutionally reserved to Westminster) if it was staged by September 2013. But this demand was dropped in return for Salmond agreeing to a one question vote."
You are of course right, and I am of course wrong. To quote George Bush, I misremembered!

I do recall that at the time there was a widely held opinion up here that Salmond had "smokescreened" with this policy in order to get what he was looking for on the date and the inclusion of younger voters, but even this is highly arguable.

I was just voicing the fact I was fed up of the 24 hour news culture, where it just repeated and repeated ad infinitum. I think the scots should stay not because I think we would be better off all in the same boat, but because I think Scotland going it alone right now with the captains we have at the helm now the whole union could end up on the rocks with people throwing blame at each other.
What LLL is saying is that the thing that makes Scotland attractive as a place to go visit or live (the low population/wide open spaces) could end up being its downfall. The whole of the UK has a workshy class we all know this and if the pool of working people isn't big enough to support them there is going to be problems big problems not just in Scotland but in all of the Union.
I just wanted the whole thing decided so I could watch the news again I didn't want to fall out with the Scottish lg'ers @BMCC
