This is why I'm mainly a PC gamer:
Firstly - Steam. It's a lesson to everyone else how to do digital distribution and DRM. I can go to any computer, anywhere in the world, and sign into my account, and get access to my games, which I can download, install and run - without any intervention from anyone else.
Yes - every game that I've purchased on Steam I'm only technically "renting", and I don't "own" it. However - if you look at pretty much any software licence, you will see that you only are granted a licence to use the software, you never truly "own" it.
Sales - at least 2-3 times per year, they have massive sales, where a lot of games are sold for up to 75% off. I tend to buy a few games during these sales, and they last me until the next one. I don't feel the need to buy games the day they're released, if it's a good game, it'll still be a good game 6, 9, 18 months down the line when it goes on sale.
No - you can't trade games or buy them second hand. But, when you can spend ~£2-5 on a game which you can then play forever, wherever. About how much difference it'd cost you by trading in console games at your local game store...
Secondly - Humble Bundles - this week, the entire Alan Wake franchise, for as little as $1, or as much, as you want to pay. You then get DRM-free versions, AND keys to claim on Steam.
Thirdly - mods. I've got GTA 4 on my PC, with about 12GB of high resolution textures, lighting mods, real life cars. I have about the same amount of filespace used with extra mods/textures for Skyrim. You just can't do that with a console

The thing that annoys me about steam/gamer profile linked products in general is that both my girlfriend and I play video games, we live together, have a joint bank account (and so buy everything together), yet if I buy a game I can only register it with my account, if Laura wants to play we have to buy another licence, or let her screw up my profile.
I mean ffs where does it end? Are we going to end up having to buy 2 DVD's of a movie because we're both going to watch it?
All this digital protection just hurts legitimate consumers for the sake of overzealous, greedy companies. You can still get pirated copies of recent titles, so people who break the law get to play the title as much as they like, on as many machines as they like, whereas people who actually do the right thing and pay for the product get shafted
I love gaming, but I won't be buying a next gen console.

I got chivalry on steam and surgeon simulator
both games hilarious
Id like to sit on the sofa and play these games,
but I found the controls were not quite right on chivalry for the 360 pad, not enough buttons for a start
I feel pc games need to be more pad friendly, which isn't possible sometimes
